GAZA, May 01 (YPA) = Hamas Movement said on Friday that, more than 200 days after the signing of the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, it remains fully committed—along with other Palestinian resistance factions—to all provisions of the deal.
This included the implementation of prisoner and remains exchanges according to the agreed timeline, despite the challenges posed by the extensive destruction caused by the conflict in the enclave.
The movement added that, in contrast, the opposing side has failed to meet its obligations and has continued military operations under the cover of the agreement.
In a statement, the movement affirmed that after more than two years of a devastating war by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian population in Gaza, the international community has witnessed what it called serious violations against civilians.
It added that ongoing breaches—including civilian casualties, restrictions affecting humanitarian conditions, continued limitations on the Rafah crossing, and other developments on the ground—reflect a disregard for mediation efforts and an attempt to undermine the agreement.
The statement stressed that the continuation of hostilities despite the ceasefire agreement represents, in its view, an extension of the conflict’s humanitarian consequences, creating an exceptional situation from humanitarian, political, and legal perspectives under international norms designed to protect civilians.
The movement also called for a clear and firm position from mediators and guarantor states to condemn these actions and fulfill their responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of the agreement, with the aim of securing compliance from all parties and alleviating the humanitarian situation.
