LONDON, Dec. 18 (YPA) – “Amnesty International” organization has stated that the deaths resulting from recent floods in the Gaza Strip were entirely preventable, asserting that the catastrophe was not merely a result of severe weather but a direct consequence of systematic Israeli occupation policies.
The organization explained that the scale of destruction was significantly worsened by ongoing Israeli occupation restrictions on vital supplies needed to repair basic infrastructure and provide adequate shelter.
The Amnesty International emphasized that the submerged tents and collapsed buildings are the “foreseeable result” of the ongoing siege and policies that leave displaced persons vulnerable to every winter storm.
The organization demanded an immediate lifting of the “suffocating blockade” and called for the unrestricted entry of essential goods, repair materials, and humanitarian aid to save lives and prevent further tragedies.
Amnesty concluded that blaming the weather alone is a dismissal of the reality, characterizing the situation as a man-made humanitarian disaster fueled by the denial of basic survival necessities to the population of Gaza.
