Civil defense completes recovery of 60 bodies of martyrs from “Salem” family in Gaza

GAZA, Dec. 18 (YPA) – The Civil defense crews in the Gaza Strip have completed the operation to recover the bodies of the martyrs from Salem family from under the rubble of Abu Ramadan family home, which was destroyed by the occupation army during the war, in al-Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City.

Lieutenant Colonel Mahmoud Al-Shoubaki, the commander of the operation, said that the rescue teams were able to recover 60 bodies, including remains, in addition to transferring 17 bodies that had been buried in the vicinity of the house during the war. He explained that the operation took three days using limited equipment.

Al-Shoubaki pointed to the urgent need to bring in heavy machinery and equipment to expedite the recovery of the bodies of thousands of martyrs who are still under the rubble, revealing that the crews moved today to the Yarmouk area to search for other bodies under the rubble of Al-Nabris family home.

Civil defense teams continue their efforts amid a severe shortage of equipment, while the Ministry of Health confirms that preventing the entry of heavy machinery is hindering access to the dead, despite the ceasefire agreement.

According to the Government Media Office, the war has left more than 70 million tons of rubble after widespread destruction of infrastructure in the sector.
