TAIZ, Nov. 2 (YPA) – Footage circulating on social media on Monday shows trucks carrying food and other essential supplies entering Taiz city without obstruction, contradicting claims by Saudi media and affiliated outlets that Sanaa forces were obstructing the flow of essential supplies into Taiz.
The footage, shared by activists, was filmed at the al-Hangar checkpoint west of Taiz, which is under the control of Sana’a forces.
The video shows trucks carrying food, cooking gas and vegetables heading toward areas inside the city controlled by forces affiliated with the Saudi-backed Islah Party.
The footage also features statements from several truck drivers confirming that various goods, including drinking water and other essential supplies, were being transported into the city as usual, without obstruction by Sana’a forces.
The drivers’ accounts directly contradicted claims circulated by Saudi media and Islah-affiliated outlets that Sanaa forces were preventing daily necessities from reaching Taiz residents.
Commenting on the footage, Salem Abu Zaid al-Khalifi, a leader in the Southern Resistance and a tribal sheikh from Shabwa governorate, said:
“Disagree politically with the Ansarullah (Houthi) government in Sana’a, and fight them like men on the front lines. But what is shameful is distorting the truth and showing contempt for the lives and intelligence of the Yemeni people.”
“We may disagree politically with Sanaa, but lies and disinformation cannot bring victory,” he added, arguing that such falsehoods had contributed to the significant political, military and popular setbacks suffered by Saudi Arabia and its allies.
