Security forces arrest criminal gang in Mahweet

MAHWEET, Dec. 13 (YPA) – The security services in the Tawila district of Mahweet province managed on Saturday to overthrow a criminal gang specializing in the theft of Telecommunications Corporation cables.

The district’s security department explained, in a statement, that the gang, including five people, was arrested after investigations that had been continued for years.

The accused were referred to the competent judicial authorities to complete the legal proceedings.

The statement added that the total number of stolen cables was estimated at about 820 meters.

It affirmed that the security services recovered 200 meters of stolen cables that were in the accused’s possession.
