SHABWA, Nov. 01 (YPA) – The Shabwa Governorate in southeastern Yemen, which is controlled by UAE-backed factions, is witnessing unprecedented security chaos.
In the Nesab district, fierce tribal clashes erupted on Friday between armed tribesmen in the middle of the market—the birthplace of the governor—causing panic among residents and turning the markets into a site for settling vendetta issues, amidst a complete absence of state authorities.
Meanwhile, an angry protest march swept through the streets of Huda city, the center of the Habban district. Protesters demanded the immediate release of Sheikh Saleh Dhabi Al-Qumayshi and his companions, the head of the “Karama Movement,” who were abducted by UAE-backed factions last Saturday.
The protesters held the authorities and the factions responsible for the safety of the abductees, affirming their determination to continue popular and tribal escalation until their release.
This escalating tension follows an incident last Tuesday where the Laqmoosh tribes cut off the international road between Shabwa and Aden and engaged in armed confrontations with the pro-UAE factions.
