MAHRA, Nov. 01 (YPA) – An officer in the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” factions, identified as Ibrahim Sadiq Mitan Al-Samahi, sustained serious injuries and multiple fractures after being subjected to a sudden attack inside the factions’ camp in Qishn district last Thursday night.
Local sources confirmed that the attack was carried out by individuals close to the extremist Salafist commander of the factions in Mahra, Abdullah Sidif Al-Jidahi. Al-Samahi, who hails from the Sihout tribes, was transferred to the hospital in critical condition, sparking widespread outrage among “Dera Al-Watan” elements and the Sihout tribes.
The perpetrators justified the incident as an “unintentional mistake,” a claim that was rejected and described as reflecting the state of security breakdown and tribal discrimination within the factions.
The incident drew widespread condemnation amid accusations that the Salafist faction leadership was complicit and silent regarding these repeated violations.
