Iran, Pakistan sign agreement including all desired economic fields

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (YPA) – Iran and Pakistan signed a new agreement aimed at facilitating customs procedures and modernizing the railway network between the two countries, in a move that reflects the strength of bilateral relations and efforts to expand strategic cooperation.

Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, revealed on Saturday that the agreement was based on two main axes: facilitating the movement of trucks through border crossings and rehabilitating joint railway lines. It emphasized that this cooperation represents a qualitative shift in bilateral relations.

In a news statement, the minister explained that the two countries would expand cooperation to include land and sea transportation, as well as y to link the Pakistani ports of Karachi and Gwadar with the Iranian port of Chabahar, opening new horizons for economic and political integration between the two neighboring countries.

He noted that the agreement reflected the shared visions between Tehran and Islamabad regarding the importance of linking regional transport networks, adding that the new steps would contribute to developing transit corridors and strengthening the Iranian and Pakistani roles in trade flows between China and Europe.

Observers believed this agreement would be as part of the two countries’ efforts to strengthen their economic independence and reduce their reliance on Western channels, making it a step with profound political implications in light of the accelerating regional transformations.
