Two years after Israeli aggression, Gaza’s cries get etched in global conscience

SANAA, Oct. 11 (YPA) – Two years after the brutal and ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has devolved into one of the most horrific crimes against humanity in modern times, attention is turning to US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire agreement between “Israel” and Hamas, as part of the so-called US “peace plan.

This development comes at a time when the profound historical and geopolitical consequences of the genocide are being revealed, amid global calls to commemorate the victims and rebuild the international order on the basis of justice.

Conflict and Double Standards

What has happened in Gaza over the past two years constitutes a war crime against humanity, targeting civilians, blocking the delivery of humanitarian aid, and using food as a mechanism of genocidal war.

Many reports issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and international organizations have documented the blatant violation of international humanitarian law by the occupying authorities.

According to Palestinian health authorities and regional and international media outlets, these events have exposed weaknesses in the international discourse on human rights, peace, and security, as these discourses have done nothing to stop the ongoing massacres.

In contrast, an assessment of the genocide has been revealed that the Israeli occupation’s claims of being “the most moral army in the world” are nothing but hollow, especially given that the death toll has exceeded 67,000, nearly a third of whom are children, according to reports by the United Nations and the World Bank, violations are included the targeting of hospitals, shelters, and schools, and imposition of a stifling blockade that led to widespread famine.

Awakening Conscience and Shifting Landscape

Despite the official silence of some powers, the genocide got awakened free consciences around the world. Millions of voices were raised to condemn the crimes of the Israeli entity, and more than 157 countries, including powerful countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, declared their recognition of the Palestinian state, emphasizing the need to find a genuine political path towards what they called a “two-state solution.”

This move, which represents a turning point in the history of international relations, has prompted many countries to reconsider their positions, exposing the double standards inherent in the international system, with beginning to turn the crystallization of international alliances that challenge the traditional order, potentially leading to the end of the era of American hegemony.

Trump’s Deal: Temporary Truce or Surrender Plan?

US President Donald Trump’s announcement that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a ceasefire plan drew cautious international acclaim. Media reports indicated that the details of the first phase, signed in Sharm el-Sheikh, include the release of all 20 remaining Israeli prisoners in exchange for almost 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, with the entry of at least 400 aid trucks into Gaza, and the commencement of a gradual Israeli withdrawal from parts of the Strip.

Despite the agreement being welcomed and endorsed regionally and internationally, voices within “Israel” have expressed their disapproval. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and his extremist Zionist party announced their refusal to vote in favor of the agreement, pledging that “Israel will continue to strive with all its might to truly eliminate Hamas and truly demilitarize Gaza”. In contrast, Hamas praised the mediators’ efforts, calling for obligating the occupation government to fully implement its obligations.

Deradicalizing the West and its Agent

In this context, Western analysts pointed out that the so-called “peace plan” may be a mere “farce” that does not address the true roots of the crisis, namely that the genocide is not an act of self-defense, but rather preordained based on the alleged “ideological imperatives of Zionism.”

Opinion polls published in the Israeli press in May 2025 showed widespread support for the aggression, with 82% of Israeli Jews supporting the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, and 47% agreeing with the killing of all Gaza residents, including children.

This revealed a deep-rooted extremism within “Israel”, leading Israeli journalist and activist Orly Noy to conclude, in an article on the +972 website, that “what we are witnessing is the final stage of “Israel”‘s internal Nazi transformation”, and that “Zionism, in all its forms, could only be cleansed of the stain of this crime by putting an end to it.”

Dismantling Normalization and Immunization

Two years later the genocide is an urgent call to preserve human memory as an act of resistance. This calls for dismantling all attempts to justify or normalize the crimes of the Israeli entity and supporting international courts to ensure that crimes against humanity are not protected by political immunity.

What is now required is not only reconstruction, but also a much deeper “deradicalization” campaign within the West and its subordinate entity, making it inconceivable to ignore the International Court of Justice’s ruling demanding an end to the illegal occupation and the implementation of its ruling to arrest Netanyahu for crimes against humanity.

The End of American Hegemony and the Birth of a New Order

The humanitarian repercussions have gone beyond their scope, creating a geopolitical earthquake that is redrawing the map of global power. This genocide has exposed profound Western double standards and caused a massive erosion of trust in the traditional global order led by the United States and its allies.

At the international level, the outlines of new alliances have begun to take shape, posing a clear challenge to the old order. These alliances, in which the Global South is strongly involved, aim to support international courts, such as the International Court of Justice, to hold “Israel” and its leaders accountable. This may represent a challenge to the “political immunity” traditionally provided by Washington and its allies.

The West in the Mirror

Similarly, the unjustified rush by the Western ruling class to justify Israel’s crimes has led to a profound internal crisis of confidence and has raised questions among many Western activists and analysts, who have emphasized the urgent need for a global campaign to “de-radicalize” the West itself. It concerns a demon lurking in the soul of the West, which established, armed, funded, and tolerated the Israeli entity.

Political experts believe that the “deradicalization” campaign required today must make it unreasonable to ignore the International Court of Justice’s ruling calling for an end to the decades-long illegal occupation, to describe demonstrations condemning genocide as “illegal,” or to seek to end the right to protest.

The bottom line:

All political, legal, and humanitarian efforts, including documented testimonies from regional resistance forces, have been confirmed that the world is at a “critical turning point in human history.” New forces challenging the traditional order may bear a moral and political responsibility to rebuild the international order to eliminate the illegitimate influence of colonial powers.

In this context, Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi’s speech last Thursday constituted a true historical testimony and a damning indictment that exposed the ugliness of the Zionist-American aggression. He emphasized that the aggression is the “crime of the century”, citing figures and facts indicating that more than 11% of Gaza’s population has been killed or wounded, the highest rate of human casualties in a besieged area in modern times.

The speech highlighted the comprehensive and systematic target through the deliberate killing of children and women with American-made bombs, or starvation, which has turned baby formula and water into scarce commodities and a daily risk, in additional to the targeting of hospitals and cemeteries, destroying more than 1,000 mosques and 95% of schools, in an attempt to erase their identity and force demographic change. These facts confirm the existence of a premeditated intent to destroy the livelihood and cultural fabric of the Palestinian people, which intersects with Zionist intentions to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

Sayyed Al-Houthi’s speech represented a global call to conscience, carrying within it a comprehensive indictment of the American-backed Zionist entity, for committing crimes of genocide and systematic ethnic cleansing in Gaza. The dimensions addressed by Sayyed Al-Houthi transcended the Palestinian issue to address the entire world, calling for humanitarian, moral, and international action to halt this historic catastrophe and hold its perpetrators accountable.

Finally, the genocide in Gaza will not go unpunished; its victims represent a stab of conscience that urges the path to true multipolarity based on respect for the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to freedom and national independence, equal to the rights of all peoples worldwide. The path to peace begins with achieving comprehensive justice, ending the occupation, and establishing a Palestinian state on all Palestinian territory, with Al-Quds city as its capital.
