SANAA, Sept. 13 (YPA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Sanaa government condemned on Saturday the Security Council’s press release regarding what it called “detained UN staff,” describing the statement as reflecting “double standards.”
In a statement, the ministry clarified that the Security Council, which expressed concern for employees accused of “espionage cells,” has taken no action regarding the “ongoing war crimes committed by the Zionist entity in Yemen,” including the targeting of the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction and his companions. The statement also pointed out the Security Council’s failure to condemn the “crimes of genocide and starvation” in Gaza.
The ministry affirmed that this stance raises doubts about the credibility of the international organization and shows that the Security Council is a “pliant tool in the hands of America,” used to serve its interests and provide cover and protection for the Zionist entity.
The statement also criticized the Council’s concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, stating that the “aggression and siege imposed on Yemen” is the primary cause.
The ministry noted that the UN has reduced or halted its aid in some Yemeni provinces due to Yemen’s supportive stance toward Gaza.
In conclusion, the foreign ministry reiterated Yemen’s respect for international agreements concerning the immunities of diplomatic missions. However, it stressed that security agencies “will not hesitate to use all necessary measures to protect the security and stability of Yemen.” The ministry also rejected any pressure to deter Yemen from its supportive stance toward Gaza.
