Citizen shot dead in drive-by shooting in Abyan

TAIZ, Sept. 08 (YPA) – A car driver was assassinated on Monday by unnamed gunmen in the Al-Eyn area of ​​Abyan province, which is controlled by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

A human rights source familiar with the matter confirmed that two gunmen on a motorbike shot and killed the driver, whose name was not disclosed, while he was near a gas station in the area of ​​Lawdar district.

The source explained that the gunmen managed to flee to an unknown place after carrying out the incident, which occurred near a military checkpoint belonging to the “Security Belt” factions that the STC had brought in from Aden city.

It pointed out that the assassination incident sparked panic among the citizens present at the station, with the motive for the crime unknown.

This came amidst the recurring assassinations targeting citizens due to the unprecedented security chaos in the district.

This crime happened after a widespread popular uprising was erupted on Sunday, demanding the resignation of district officials due to the security chaos and the collapse of basic services there.
