GAZA, Sept. 02 (YPA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed on Tuesday that Gaza’s population is being repeatedly displaced by persistent Israeli occupation shelling and evacuation orders.
In a post on X, UNRWA noted that the escalation of Israeli bombing in Gaza City on August 26 has significantly impacted tens of thousands of residents.
The agency stressed the urgent need to restore humanitarian access and lift the siege to allow aid to reach those in need. This comes as Mahmoud Bassal, the spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, warned about the grave humanitarian consequences of forced displacement, which aims to cram over 1.5 million people into a small area comprising just 12% of the strip’s total size.
The United Nations officially declared a famine in Gaza Governorate on August 22, with projections that it would spread to other areas by the end of September.
Since October 7, 2023, the continuous Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of 63,633 people and injuries to 160,914 others, alongside the widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure in numerous neighborhoods.
