Israeli Journalist: Saudi-Israeli coordination intensifies after Sanaa forces’ western coast advance
QUDS, Sept. 13 (YPA) – Israeli journalist Eddie Cohen said that contacts between Saudi Arabia and Israeli occupation have intensified following Sanaa armed forces’ takeover of Yemen’s western coast and their reported advance toward the Bab Al-Mandab Strait in the southern Red Sea.
In a post on X, Cohen said the Saudi-Israeli contacts were taking place under US supervision to coordinate efforts against what he called the “Houthis.”
Meanwhile, US broadcaster CNN reported last Thursday that more than 100 US military advisers are in Riyadh providing intelligence support to Saudi Arabia and helping identify military targets against Sanaa forces.
The network said nearly 200 US military personnel are working as part of a newly established joint command formed in recent days.
CNN also reported that Washington is helping Riyadh use a targeting tool that enables military personnel to monitor developments on the battlefield against Sanaa forces in real time and identify geospatial targets for strikes.
Saudi military commanders had previously flown Tariq Saleh from Mocha to Riyadh via Aden airport, amid accusations of betrayal against him by the Islah Party.
According to the report, Sanaa forces overran seven military divisions comprising 38 brigades and took control of six coastal districts south of Hodeida and west of Taiz, including Mocha port and airport, in an operation launched on September 3.
Sanaa forces also took direct control of the Bab Al-Mandab Strait in Dhubab District, west of Taiz, as well as strategic Mayyun Island at the heart of the strait, in addition to the Hanish Islands and Zuqar Island.
The report said Sanaa forces’ control of Bab Al-Mandab and their seizure of advanced maritime and coastal surveillance systems, including systems belonging to the occupation’s Elta Systems, France’s Thales and Germany’s Hensoldt, from Saudi-backed camps overlooking the strait represented an unprecedented shock to Israel, particularly amid Yemen’s reported maritime blockade of Israel in the Red and Arabian seas in support of Gaza.
