Yemeni air defenses thwart “largest Israeli aggression” on Sanaa, other provinces: Military official
SANAA, Aug. 24 (YPA) – Brigadier General Mohammed al-Sharif, advisor to the Ministry of Defense in the Sanaa government, said on Sunday that Yemeni air defenses succeeded in thwarting “the largest Israeli aggression” targeting the capital, Sanaa, and several provinces.
In an exclusive statement to “Yemen Press Agency”, al-Sharif explained that the air defenses were able to neutralize dozens of Israeli warplanes that attempted to carry out raids on civilian and military targets. He emphasized that this success is due to the qualitative development of Yemeni military industries.
Al-Sharif reported that Yemeni radars detected between 35 and 36 Israeli warplanes over territorial waters, 14 of which managed to approach Yemeni provinces. Three of them carried out attacks on five civilian sites in Sanaa before departing under pressure from air defenses.
He added that the remaining fighter jets failed to carry out their missions over the provinces of Sanaa, Hodeida, and Hajjah, noting that some were hit, with a number likely falling into the Red Sea.
Al-Sharif described the Israeli attack as a “senseless targeting” of civilian assets, and considered this military development a reflection of Yemen’s ability to develop advanced defense systems. He also revealed that the enemy is still in shock from the test of Yemen’s hypersonic “Palestine 2” missile.
