Egypt: Palestinian factions agree to amended truce proposal, awaiting Israeli response

CAIRO, Aug. 19 (YPA) – Diaa Rashwan, head of the State Information Service (SIS), announced Monday evening that Egypt has received and forwarded the final approval from all Palestinian factions, including Hamas, on the latest amended truce proposal.

Rashwan stated that “the ball is now in Israel’s court,” emphasizing that the Palestinian factions have requested American guarantees to ensure the agreement’s implementation.

He noted that the proposed 60-day truce could provide an opportunity for “Israel” to resolve its internal political crisis.

According to Rashwan, the five conditions previously set by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and his rejection of partial deals, suggest that any forthcoming agreement will be comprehensive, covering all outstanding issues, including a prisoner exchange and the redeployment of military forces in Gaza.

Rashwan also highlighted that the United States is expected to play a significant role in the final stages of negotiations to secure the necessary guarantees for the Palestinian factions.

He concluded that a 60-day truce with clear assurances would pave the way for a permanent and comprehensive agreement to end the current conflict.
