HADRAMOUT, July 13 (YPA) – An angry popular uprising closed down the local authorities’ building in the Douan district of Hadramout Valley on Sunday, amid demands for the departure of corrupt officials.
Thousands of citizens demonstrated in solidarity with the Al-Bandar Theater Troupe in front of the Public Prosecution building in the Saif Douan area, following the imprisonment of its members by the director of the district, Salem Ahmed Bankhar, last week.
The protesters chanted angry slogans demanding Bankhar’s dismissal due to his failure to provide the most basic necessities of life for citizens, and they raised banners expressing their solidarity with the Al-Bandar Theater Troupe.
The angry popular protests came after Bankhar filed a lawsuit against the theater troupe over a theatrical performance that discussed citizens’ concerns and daily suffering due to the lack of services and power outages that last for more than 20 hours a day.
