Car of STC factions’ leader set on fire in central Aden

ADEN, July 13 (YPA) – Unidentified assailants set fire to the car of a leader in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions in the early hours of Sunday in the center of Aden, southern Yemen.

Local sources reported that the assailants threw a bottle filled with gasoline at Adel Salem Al-Shabhi, a media professional with the STC’s “Third Support and Reinforcement Brigade.”

The car was parked in front of Al-Shabhi’s home in the Al-Arish neighborhood of the Khormaksar area, and the assailants set it on fire before fleeing to an unknown destination, according to the sources.

The sources indicated that citizens unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the fire, while the identity of the perpetrators remains unknown.

Aden has been experiencing unprecedented security chaos due to the absence of state authorities since the Saudi-led coalition forces took control of the city in the second half of 2016.
