Bin Habtour stresses importance of raising community awareness in combating drugs

SANAA, June 28 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council, Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Habtour, and Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi participated on Saturday in a symposium to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

At the symposium, organized by the Ministry of Interior under the title of “Drugs are the enemies’ means of destroying the individual and society”, bin Habtour praised the great efforts made by the interior ministry for organizing the awareness and its security efforts in combating drugs, considering it a protective shield to protect the society.

He considered drugs a scourge threatening and destabilizing societies from within that enemies can control them, explaining many societies have fallen in Latin America, Africa, and Asia due to the spread of drugs, which aim to demoralize these societies and pave the way for their descent into cycles of violence and conflict that have seeped into the political sphere.

Dr. Bin Habtour stated that religious and moral deterrence in Yemen, along with the tremendous work being done by the Ministry of Interior, will contribute to limiting the spread of this scourge, noting the necessary plans and programs were put in place to combat the issue of drugs.

He pointed out that the battle the Yemeni people have been waging for a decade against the American-backed Saudi-led coalition and the Saudi-Emirati blockade continuing at all political, media, and military levels, which seek to undermine the resilience of the Yemeni people, through the use of drugs.

“The aggression coalition is still lurking for Yemen and its people, and its leaders do not want peace to prevail throughout the country,” bin Habtour emphasized. “The state of neither war nor peace will continue in this manner.”

The member of the Supreme Political Council congratulated the great victory that the Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved over the Zionist enemy for 77 years, explaining that all free people of the nation and the world should celebrate this victory.

In turn, Prime Minister of Sanaa government, Ahmed Al-Rahwi, commended the efforts the Ministry of Interior made in combating the various methods and means of trafficking and promoting these deadly toxins.

He pointed out that the enemy has deliberately used drugs in their war for more than ten years to destroy the Yemeni people, explaining that information confirmed that the Saudi and Emirati occupiers smuggling large quantities of drugs into the coalition-held provinces and regions, including “shabu”, to corrupt youth and push them to commit crimes.

Al-Rahwi called on the community to cooperate with the relevant authorities in reporting any knowledge or suspicion of trafficking, marketing, or use of this deadly and destructive poison.

had used cultural and moral warfare to target communities with drugs when they failed to target them through military and security operations, hoping that the symposium would yield results that would contribute to developing mechanisms and efforts to combat this dangerous scourge.

For his part, deputy interior minister Maj. Gen. Abdul-Majeed Al-Mortada emphasized that drugs are one of the most dangerous problems plaguing societies and specifically targeting youth, as they are the pillars of the present and the hope of the future.

He pointed out that drugs became one of the most prominent tools used by the enemy to attack societies by facilitating their smuggling and spreading them among society with the goal of dismantling and corrupting.

Al-Mortada called for concerted efforts by all government and community stakeholders to work effectively to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs, particularly among young people, stressing the importance of instilling religious values in their hearts and warning them of potential dangers.
