ROMA, June 25 (YPA) – Italy’s supermarket chain ‘Co-op’ declared on Wednesday that it would remove some Israeli products from its shelves in protest against the genocide “Tel Aviv” has been committing against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for the past 21 months.
“We cannot remain idly by in the face of the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip,” the British company, one of the largest supermarket chains in Italy, said in a statement.
The statement strongly condemned the Israeli government’s blockade of the Gaza Strip and its prevention of humanitarian supplies and aid from reaching civilians.
It noted that the initiatives the company has participated in or launched to provide financial support to the Gaza Strip to be ongoing.
The statement affirmed that the addition of a new product called “Gaza Cola” to the company’s shelves, with sales going towards rebuilding a hospital in the Gaza Strip.
