LONDON, Oct. 21 (YPA) – Amnesty International has called on the international community to take immediate steps to impose sanctions on Israeli officials involved in violations of international law and to intervene urgently to stop settler violence.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the organization demanded an end to the escalating settler attacks in the West Bank, coinciding with the olive harvest season. It stressed that the destruction and theft of crops and attacks on farmers are creating a humanitarian crisis and economic losses.
It pointed to the obstacles imposed by the occupation army to prevent farmers from accessing their lands and highlighted attacks in Khirbet Abu Falah and Taybeh, east of Ramallah, targeting a Washington Post correspondent and a European diplomatic delegation.
It also called on countries to cut off trade and investment that fuels the occupation and to support efforts for justice, emphasizing that statements of condemnation are no longer effective.
