Pro-Palestinian candidate wins primary elections for position of New York City Mayor

NEW YORK, June 25 (YPA) – Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old pro-Palestinian activist and member of Congress, won the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City, a result conceded by his main rival, former Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Although the vote count was still ongoing, Cuomo conceded, telling his supporters, “Tonight was not our night…Zohran Mamdani won.”

The statement came as results, with more than 90% of the votes counted, showed the left-wing Muslim candidate leading the race with more than 43% of the vote, compared to 36% for Cuomo.
