Silent protest against the ban on Palestine Action held in Liverpool

LIVERPOOL, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Hundreds of protesters plan to hold a silent protest in Liverpool to coincide with the Labour Party conference, at the invitation of the Defend Juries campaign, to protest the ban on the Palestine Action group, holding signs that read “I oppose genocide.I support Palestine Action.”

The group was added to the list of proscribed organizations on July 5, 2025, under the Terrorism Act. The government says its activities have gone beyond protesting to damaging property.

According to official figures, 2,819 people were arrested on suspicion of supporting it during the year to March 2026, and 484 were charged, while the campaign says the ban restricts peaceful protest and debate about the Gaza war, while authorities maintain that supporting a proscribed organization could lead to criminal prosecution.
