SANAA, June 08 (YPA) -The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has urged citizens to stay away from valleys and flood pathways during and after heavy rainfall, citing potential flash flood risks.
The center also warned of extreme heat conditions and advised the public to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during midday hours, and use sun protection such as umbrellas.
In its 24-hour forecast, the center predicted generally clear to partly cloudy skies, with chances of rainfall in mountainous, coastal, and desert regions. Scattered showers accompanied by thunderstorms are expected over parts of Ibb, Taiz, Dhamar, Raymah, Amran, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, and western areas of Saada and Sanaa.
According to the center, weather conditions are expected to be mostly clear to partly cloudy, hot, and humid over the Socotra Archipelago and parts of the eastern coastline, with a chance of light rain.
Winds in these areas will range from moderate to active, blowing at speeds between 12 and 25 knots.
In the Socotra Archipelago specifically, winds are forecasted to be strong to very strong, ranging between 18 and 28 knots, with gusts reaching up to 38 knots. These conditions are expected to cause sea disturbances and high waves.
The center also expected sunny, dry, and extremely hot conditions in the desert regions, where maximum temperatures are expected to range between 38°C and 43°C. Winds in these areas will be moderate, occasionally becoming active.
