TAIZ, May 31 (YPA) – Women held an angry protest, on Saturday, demanding the provision of basic services, including water, electricity, and a decent life, in the city of Taiz, in areas under coalition control.
The demonstrators raised banners in front of the building of the pro-coalition authorities demanding the provision of water and a decent living, emphasizing that the silence of the coalition and its government was no longer acceptable and had turned into demands for the expulsion of those responsible for corruption.
They stated that the lack of basic services left them no choice but to take to the streets, despite the security and social challenges, without alleviating the living and service conditions, which were described as catastrophic.
A group of women directed direct threats to the General People’s Congress leader appointed by the coalition, “Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan,” that they would resort to the judiciary and hold him accountable in accordance with Yemeni law, as he is primarily responsible for the deteriorating service conditions, and one of the participants in the demonstration explained that “prison” is the fate deserved by everyone who fails to perform their duty towards citizens.
Taiz women suffer from a lack of water, with the price of a water tanker reaching nearly 100,000 riyals, so water must be brought on their heads from the water tankers, a distance of up to 3 km.
Leader Tariq Saleh, the Islah Party, and their loyal faction leaders share the revenues from the Mocha port and other taxes and tributes imposed on qat, without billions of them contributing to the establishment of a water project for civilians.
