Hamas reveals prisoner swap deal, Palestinian understandings on ceasefire in Gaza

GAZA, May 31 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, announced on Saturday that, following a round of national consultations, it submitted its response to US envoy Steve Witkoff’s latest proposal to the mediators.

Hamas indicated in a press statement that the response came out of a sense of deep responsibility toward the Palestinian people and their suffering, with the aim of achieving a permanent ceasefire, a comprehensive withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and ensuring the flow of aid to the people of the Gaza Strip.

“As part of this agreement, ten living Israeli occupation prisoners held by the resistance will be released, in addition to the handover of eighteen bodies, in exchange for an agreed-upon number of Palestinian prisoners,” Hamas explained.
