ABYAN, May 28 (YPA) – A woman was killed by Southern Transitional Council (STC) members in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, in an immoral manner that sparked widespread anger among the governorate’s residents.
A human rights source in the governorate confirmed that Transitional Council members in the “Sixth Brigade” factions opened fire on a bus carrying the young woman, Maryam Hamid Ali Hassan, and one of her relatives, in the Al-Qarna’a area of Al-Koud, killing her instantly.
The source explained that the members stopped the bus near the Gulf 20 stadium, and one of the members tried to harass the young woman in front of her fiancé, leading to a verbal altercation between the fiance and the members, which ended with the young woman’s death as the driver left the area to avoid escalating the situation.
The source also indicated that the members fired a hail of bullets at the car after the driver left the area of the incident, with the driver miraculously escaping.
The incident sparked widespread resentment among the people of Abyan, who demanded the departure of Transitional Council members to curb the crimes of violations against the people of the governorate.
