GAZA, May 17 (YPA) – A number of food distribution centers and shelters that Israeli occupation had targeted mounted to 68 as part of its systematic policy of starving civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza-based government Media Office explained in a news statement that the occupation forces bombed a food aid distribution warehouse in the Deir al-Balah area in the central Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing five citizens and injuring a large number of innocent civilians who had gathered to receive humanitarian aid amid the famine plaguing the Strip.
The statement reported that the number of targeted field kitchens since the beginning of the genocidal war had reached 68 centers and shelters, including 39 food and aid distribution centers and 29 food shelters that provide daily meals to the needy and hungry.
“The occupation’s criminal behavior, by deliberately targeting relief and social welfare facilities, “confirms beyond a shadow of a doubt that the occupation is using food as a weapon of war, in flagrant violation of all international laws, especially the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit the targeting of humanitarian facilities and civilians under any circumstances,” the statement revealed.
It held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for these heinous crimes, calling on the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, and all humanitarian and human rights organizations to take urgent, immediate, and effective action to halt these brutal massacres, provide protection to food distribution centers, and open the crossings for delivery of humanitarian aid.
