GAZA, May 09 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has rejected statements made by the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, in which he accused the Movement of controlling humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Hamas dubbed his remarks as “false claims that are detached from reality,” stressing that the ambassador is merely repeating Israeli lies that have been debunked by UN agencies and international relief organizations operating in the Strip.
The Movement added that Huckabee’s remarks are made “to justify Israeli plans for displacement and subjugation through a systematic policy of starvation pursued against more than 2.25 million people in the Gaza Strip.”
“The entire world has witnessed in recent months an unprecedented war crime carried out by the fascist occupation government led by terrorist Benjamin Netanyahu, through the imposition of a declared policy of starvation against unarmed civilians who are being subjected to genocide through all weaponry and warfare means,” it added.
Hamas reaffirmed “the right of the Palestinian people in Gaza to receive humanitarian aid with dignity, in accordance with the mechanisms established by the United Nations and relevant international organizations,” noting that the positions expressed by those bodies have confirmed their rejection of any plans that violate basic humanitarian principles.
The Movement called on the international community to “take urgent action to prevent the militarization of aid and its conversion into a tool for managing starvation, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law,” demanding that efforts be focused on “breaking the unjust siege imposed by the occupation government on Gaza and immediately forcing it to open the crossings to aid convoys and trucks currently piled up on the Egyptian side of the border.”
