Officer, civilian found dead in mysterious killings east of Marib

MARIB, Sept. 29 (YPA) – An officer belonging to the Saudi-backed 23rd Brigade and a local civilian were found dead in separate incidents in Al-Wadi district, east of Marib city, which is under control of the Islah party.

Local sources in Marib said residents found the body of Ali Qaid Murshid, an officer in the 23rd Brigade, along the Al-Abar Road between the Al-Dhawaibi checkpoint and Qarn Al-Khal.

His body was found with multiple gunshot wounds, weeks after he was abducted from the Al-Ruwaik camp market

In a separate incident, sources said the body of abducted civilian Abdulwasea Ali Naji Al-Sabari was found in the Al-Mabaal area of Salwah, near the Al-Abar Road. His body bore gunshot and stab wounds.

Sources added that Al-Sabari, who hails from Sanaa governorate, was found wrapped in a plastic tarp.

No group has claimed responsibility for the two murders. The attacks come amid growing lawlessness in the area, driven by highwaymen along the Al-Abar Road and Saudi-backed armed groups based in Al-Wadi district’s Al-Samdah area.

In a related development, Saba University medical faculty member Youssef Abdulwahab Al-Sufyani died on Monday from bullet wounds received the previous day.

Gunmen had opened fire on a bus transporting several academics back to Marib following their participation in the 5th Medical Conference held in Seiyun, Hadramout governorate.
