ADEN, May 01 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Translational Council (STC)’s militias assaulted protesters who had taken to the streets to denounce ongoing power outages in central Aden, a city under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.
Local activists on Wednesday shares video footage showing STC members chasing protesters in the Khormaksar area after they had blocked the main road to protest electricity outages and the rising prices of goods due to the collapse of the local currency against the US dollar, which is nearing 2,600 riyals.
This comes after STC militias launched a wide-scale arrest campaign over the past two days, targeting several protesters in Al-Mansoura, Sheikh Othman, and other areas.
The STC forces had also imposed a military cordon around Al-Ma’ashiq Palace in the Crater district over the past two days, following escalating protests in Aden and calls to storm the palace, which the pro-coalition government uses as its headquarters.
