Abdulqader Al-Mortada: Islah party’s secret prisons in Marib are similar to those of UAE in southern cities
SANAA, Feb. 09 (YPA) – The head of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee in Sanaa, Abdulqader Al-Mortada, shed light on the violations committed by the Islah Party against prisoners and abductees in the Saudi-led coalition prisons in Marib province.
In a series of posts on his page on the “X” platform, Al-Mortada addressed an aspect of what he described as “the ongoing criminality of the Islah Party militia” against prisoners and detainees in prisons located within the areas under their control in Marib.
He explained that the secret prisons affiliated with the Islah Party in Marib are equivalent to their Emirati counterparts in “the occupied southern cities,” both in terms of their numbers and the extent of the violations practiced against hundreds of detainees in them.
Al-Mortada also indicated that the practices of the coalition and its tools in Marib have gone beyond blocking roads to reach the point of attacking homes, where reassurance and security are supposed to prevail.
He gave an example of the case of citizen Muhammad Naji Marit, who was kidnapped from his home in Al-Hazm District and placed in the Al-Saleh Institute Prison in Marib, where he was subjected to the most heinous types of torture until he lost his life. He added, commenting, that “just as happened yesterday to the poet Rashid Al-Hussam, and today to the citizen Majed Al-Ameri, there are hundreds of victims between them who met a similar fate inside those harsh prisons.”
Al-Mortada stated that the killing of poet Rashid Al-Hatam by Islah elements in Marib reflects the brutality of “the Muslim Brotherhood’s detention centers,” indicating that Al-Hatam was liquidated only for his solidarity with Gaza and his declaration of disavowing the enemies of Allah.
He affirmed that the prisons in Marib witness harsh practices that include physical torture, breaking limbs, beating the wounded, preventing sleep, providing contaminated food, starvation, using unfit water, and preventing communication with family.
The head of the Prisoners’ Committee also touched on the case of the Egyptian Sahar Rajab, who was tortured and banned from traveling without justification, calling on the Egyptian authorities to take action to address her case and transfer her to Egypt.
Al-Mortada concluded his statements by referring to the death of detainees due to neglect and lack of health care and the death of a number of women as a result of torture in the prisons of the coalition forces.
