One killed, 11 others injured due to violent explosion in Aden

ADEN, Jan. 18 (YPA) – About 12 people were killed and injured, on Saturday, in a violent explosion that rocked the Dar Saad area in Aden province, which is under the control of the coalition in southern Yemen.

Local sources confirmed that the explosion occurred inside a large yard used to store iron and scrap in the Al-Basateen area, resulting in one death and 11 other scrap workers being injured, some of them in critical condition.

The sources explained that the explosion occurred in the yard after the arrival of a “Dina” truck carrying scrap from Abyan, suggesting that the explosion was caused by an explosive device or a landmine that was recycled among the scrap iron waste.

The explosion caused damage to a number of cars in the yard due to flying shrapnel, the sources added.
