Armed confrontations cut off main streets in Taiz

TAIZ, Jan. 18 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Saturday between members affiliated with the Islah Party, which is loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, in central Taiz city, leading to the closure of a vital street in the area.

Local sources reported that a group of armed men dressed in military uniforms blocked Al-Thawrah Street using various weapons. This action disrupted traffic and created a state of panic among residents.

The sources added that the incident followed confrontations among members of the Islah Party in the Houdh Al-Ashraf market, stemming from disputes over the division of levies and fees imposed on vendors and shop owners in the area.

These developments have sparked widespread discontent among citizens, with growing calls to put an end to such practices, which only add to the suffering of residents amid the ongoing deterioration of security in the city.
