Top Mahra official threatens popular escalation against coalition

MAHRA, Dec. 16 (YPA) – A top official of the coalition-affiliated Aden government affirmed that Mahra province, located in eastern Yemen, would move towards implementing open options to exceed all expectations of the coalition.

“The Undersecretary of Mahra province for Youth Affairs, Badr Kalshat, said that the coalition-held southern provinces suffering from escalating political and economic crises to search for options that reflect their aspirations and meet the needs of their people, with what is called “autonomy”.

He affirmed that these movements came in the context of the absence of a government capable of fulfilling its responsibilities towards the people of the provinces.

“What is imposed on everyone requires a serious review and a responsible national position that places the interests of Yemen and its people above all considerations, and establishes a new stage of consensus and stability, based on respecting the aspirations of the governorates and the rights of their citizens within a comprehensive national vision,” Kalshat added.
