UNRWA suspends its services in Jenin camp due to continuing clashes

WEST BANK, Dec. 14 (YPA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Saturday the suspension of its services in the Jenin camp in the northern occupied West Bank due to ten consecutive days of security tension in Jenin city.

UNRWA’s decision was made following the assassination of Yazid Ja’aysa, one of the leaders of the Jenin Brigade, by the Palestinian Authority’s security services during an ongoing attack on the Jenin camp in the occupied West Bank.

Roland Frederick, the Director of UNRWA Affairs in the West Bank, confirmed that UNRWA services in the Jenin camp were suspended due to ongoing Palestinian security forces operations and the ongoing firefights with Palestinian militants, as he said in his account on “X.”.

“There are reports of an increasing number of victims there, including bystanders,” he added.

Frederick called on all parties to respect the basic principles of international law that guarantee the security and safety of civilians and their access to basic services.
