LAHJ, Oct. 30 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions have restored collection points on Al-Hadd-Yafa road in Lahj province, southern Yemen.
Local sources affirmed that the STC factions re-established the security points that impose exorbitant fees on transport trucks and locomotives, in a new suffering that adds to the costs of commodity prices for citizens.
Drivers are suffering from the burden of excessive levies of up to 100,000 riyals in transportation costs, as the difficult economic conditions and decent living conditions for citizens in the coalition-held areas have been continued to deteriorate.
Large part of these taxes and levies go to the leaders of the STC’s factions by depositing them into special accounts with exchange companies affiliated with the STC, to double the accumulated crises without any economic reforms being carried out by the coalition-funded Aden government to improve food security and provide basic services.
