ADEN, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Activist Manea Salman was arrested at Aden Airport by coalition-run local authorities after being attempted to leave Yemen for medical treatment.
Human rights sources indicated that Suleiman’s arrest came under the direction of the Islah-affiliated Minister of Interior in the coalition-backed Aden government, amid reports of preparations to deport him to Marib.
This came after Islah members released Suleiman last month from a Marib prison following More than one and a half years during which he was subjected to torture over posts attacking Tariq Afash, nephew of the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, and his loyalist leaders.
Separately, Islah Party authorities in Marib city kidnapped journalist and activist Hamoud Qaed Hazza and referred him to the so-called “military judiciary”, as he is an officer in the coalition-backed forces.
Media sources indicated that Hazza was kidnapped last Saturday under “coercive orders” and referred to the prosecution office of the so-called “Third Military Region,” loyal to the coalition, in Marib. The reasons for the kidnapping or its circumstances were not disclosed.
