Economic crisis forces IDPs in Marib to leave their homes

MARIB, Oct. 21 (YPA) – The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons Camps in Marib City, which is controlled by Saudi-led coalition, has reported that a severe economic crisis has forced hundreds of displaced families to leave their homes.

A report issued Sunday by the unit indicated that 236 families have left their rental homes due to the rapid deterioration of living conditions, the collapse of the local currency, and their inability to pay rents and meet daily life requirements, leading to their refuge in camps.

The World Bank issued a report on October 15 stating that the deterioration of the local currency value and increased fuel costs are making food acquisition more challenging in areas under the coalition’s control in Yemen.
