Domestic gas crisis hits Shabwa, prices triple

SHABWA, Aug. 02 (YPA) – A domestic gas crisis has been ongoing in the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, and its various districts for weeks, amid a complete absence of local authorities loyal to the UAE.

According to a local source, this fabricated crisis is steadily worsening amid reports that the province’s share from the ‘Safer’ facility, controlled by the Islah Party loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, has been reduced.

While the price of a gas cylinder in Shabwa has exceeded 9,000 Yemeni riyals, the source confirmed that the price in the city of Marib, under the Islah party’s control, does not exceed 3,000 riyals—less than a third of the price in Shabwa.

This crisis has led to residents and motorists lining up in long lines at gas filling stations.
