Hadramout components warn coalition countries of imminent explosion with dire consequences

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 03 (YPA) – Political forces and components of Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, called on the Saudi-led coalition and its loyal government to expedite the construction of a 500-megawatt power plant and recruit 40,000 young people to quell the escalating protests in the oil-rich province.

The political bloc, led by Saleh Salem Al-Ameri, emphasized in a statement issued Saturday that ignoring previous demands has exacerbated the suffering of the population, warning of a popular uprising that threatens social peace.

The statement emphasized the need to address the electricity crisis radically by selling crude oil to provide funding and contracting with international companies to build a power plant, as well as neutralizing military forces away from political loyalties. It called for resolving the differences between Governor Mabkhout bin Madhi and the head of the Hadramout Tribal Alliance, Amr bin Habrish, to improve the interests of citizens.

Popular protests have continued for seven days in Hadramout cities, demanding improved services. These protests have been met with excessive repression, resulting in casualties and the disappearance of protesters.

The pro-coalition authorities have deployed military forces to suppress demonstrations in several areas, while Mukalla city has seen the port and electricity company shut down, with demonstrations continuing until the demands are met.
