Jerusalem Post: Unprecedented emigration wave hits occupied territories

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Oct. 16 (YPA) – The “Jerusalem Post” reported on Tuesday that the occupied territories are facing an extraordinary wave of emigration, as 40,600 people have left in the first seven months of this year, which breaks down to an average of 2,200 settlers departing per month.

As the Israeli entity continues its open aggression against Lebanon and Gaza, the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements are establishing a deterrent equation through an increase in operations inside Israeli territory.

This has begun to reflect on the internal situation, with Israeli media acknowledging a record increase in the number of those fleeing and seeking to immigrate.

The newspaper noted that these figures illustrate the extent of damage inflicted on the entity due to the ongoing war.

According to the report, 55,400 people emigrated in 2023, a record high compared to an annual average of 37,100 over the past decade.

Data from within the Israeli entity indicates that the majority of emigration requests are originating from Tel Aviv, Haifa, northern settlements, and even occupied Jerusalem, with the rate of requests to leave rising to 59% in the first seven months of 2023.

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett previously warned that the policies of the current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have driven many Israelis to consider emigration.

He stated that despair is creeping into large segments of the population, leading them to contemplate permanent migration.

A recent survey by Israeli Channel “Kan” found that approximately 25% of the population is considering leaving the country between October 2023 and October 2024 due to the current situation, in reference to  the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation initiated by Hamas.
