Paralysis afflicts Marib city due to oil derivatives crisis

MARIB, Sept. 02 (YPA) – Local sources in the city of Marib reported on Monday that the crisis of lack of oil derivatives in the city continues for the fourth day in a row.

The sources said that vehicles lined up in long queues in front of fuel stations, while transport movement in the city was paralyzed as a result of the lack of oil derivatives in the city under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.

A number of activists in the city of Marib believe that the crisis was fabricated by the local authorities loyal to the coalition with the aim of raising fuel prices.

This comes after pro-coalition authorities raised the price of a liter of gasoline last month from 150 riyals to 400 riyals.

The fuel prices in the city of Marib are much lower than those in the Yemeni provinces under the control of the coalition, which has sparked a state of discontent among the people of those areas; among them are oil-producing provinces such as Shabwa and Hadramout, where the price of a 20-liter can of gasoline is 28, 000 riyals.
