UAE-backed commander kidnapped in Aden

ADEN, Aug. 06 (YPA) – A UAE-backed commander was kidnapped in the middle of Aden for and taken to an unknown location in Aden city, south of Yemen.

Human rights activists from the southern provinces confirmed that the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) militants at the Hajif checkpoint in the Al-Mualla area kidnapped the leader of one of al-Amaliqa battalions in Mocha of Taiz, named Ramez Al-Kamrani, while he was heading to Tawahi of Aden.

The activists attributed the kidnapping of Al-Kamrani to his interaction with the call of tribal sheikhs in the southern provinces to hold a million-man demonstration demanding the disclosure of the fate of the commander Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani, who has been kidnapped and forcibly disappeared since past June.

They pointed out that Al-Kamrani suffers from diabetes, and his family has not known about his fate since July 23.

Al-Kamrani was previously kidnapped in mid-July 2019 after his house was raided and weapons and ammunition were found in the Al-Mualla area by the STC’s factions due to his affiliation with the Islah Party in Aden.

The people of the southern provinces continue their demands for the release of the kidnapped and forcibly disappeared from the STC-run prisons.
