National Center of Meteorology issues alerts regarding weather in Yemen

SANAA, July 12 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning, on Friday expected rainfall of varying intensity with thundery storms to fall in a number of provinces during the next 24 hours.

The center stated in its weather bulletin that it expects thundery rain of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by hailstones, in parts of the governorates of Saada, Amran, Hajja, Al-Mahweet, Sanaa, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhalea, Al-Bayda, and the highlands of the Tihama Plain.

The center added that scattered showers, sometimes accompanied by thunder , to fall on parts of the governorates of Mahra, Hadramaut, Shabwa, Abyan, Lahij, and the highlands of Al-Jawf and Marib, as well as parts of the southern and western coasts.

“Hot to extremely hot weather is expected in the deserts, plains, and coastal areas, with maximum temperatures ranging from 37 to 46 degrees Celsius,” the center said.

“Winds around the Socotra Archipelago are expected to be very strong, exceeding 45 knots, and moderate to strong on the eastern and southern coasts.”

The Center warned citizens in areas where rain is expected to occur from the flow of torrents into valleys and advised against crossing them, being in their streams, or crossing land bridges, especially when torrents are flowing.
