WORLD, May 07 (YPA) – Students from prestigious universities of Oxford and Cambridge in Britain began protests s in support of Palestine on Monday, following the protests that started at Columbia University in the United States and spread to many universities.
According to Anadolu Agency, pro-Palestine students at Oxford University erected tents in the gardens of the Pitt Rivers Museum, demanding that the university sever ties with companies collaborating with Israel in the aftermath of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
On the other hand, students from Cambridge University announced that they would camp on King’s Parade to protest their university’s investments in companies cooperating with Israel.
They stated that their university’s support for the genocide committed by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza compelled them to take action, refusing to remain indifferent to the situation.
Meanwhile, students set up camp in the premises of the University of Amsterdam on Monday, demanding that the university cut all ties with Israel due to its aggression against Gaza.
On April 18, students and academics opposed to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip began a sit-in at Columbia University in New York City, demanding that the administration cease academic cooperation with Israeli universities and withdraw investment .
