Borrell calls on world to prevent Israel’s Rafah invasion

WORLD, May 07 (YPA) – The EU’s Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrell, warned of Israeli occupation’s invasion on Rafah.

“Israel’s evacuation orders to civilians in Rafah portend the worst: more war and famine. It is unacceptable. Israel must renounce to a ground offensive and implement UNSCR [UN Security Council Resolution] 2728,” Borrell wrote on X platform.

“The EU, with the international community, can and must act to prevent such scenario,” he said.

Additionally, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned on Monday of the risks of a possible Israeli military operation in Rafah in southern Gaza, given that “this escalation carries significant humanitarian risks threatening more than a million Palestinians.”

The Palestinian Presidency also announced on Monday that it is conducting intensive contacts with regional and international parties, especially the United States, to prevent the invasion of Rafah.
