Saudi Arabia launches arrest campaign against critics of “Israel”

WASHINGTON, May 02 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has launched a campaign of arrests against critics of the crimes that Israeli occupation forces’ committing against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.

The campaign comes due to posts on social media related to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, at a time when the Kingdom indicated its readiness to agree to diplomatic relations with the Zionist state, if a Palestinian state to establish.

According to Bloomberg report, “people detaining for their online comments, including young people, and restrictions on freedom of expression and political expression are the norm in Saudi Arabia.”

The agency’s report indicated, according to Riyadh-based diplomats and human rights groups, that the recent wave of arrests was driven by security concerns specifically linked to the Al-Aqsa Flood operation that carried out by the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli entity in the occupied territories.

Among those detained is an executive in a company participating in Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s plan to boost the economy, according to Bloomberg, citing informed sources.

The executive reportedly made comments about the Gaza war that were deemed “inflammatory.”
Normalization talks between Saudi Arabia and the occupation have been halted since the war on Gaza, which left tens of thousands of martyrs, most of whom were women, children and the elderly.
