British students organize protests in solidarity with Gaza
SANAA, May 02 (YPA) – Dozens of pro-Palestine students organized protests at universities across Britain in a stand against the Israeli war on Gaza, similar to sit-ins at US universities.
The demonstrators at the universities of Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Sheffield and Newcastle set up tents and put up banners against the Zionist entity, as they called for an end to the military action in the Gaza Strip.
Students from the University of Manchester filled the university garden with banners, paintings and Palestinian flags to call on the university to “end its partnership with regimes that support Israel”.
In Bristol, students pressured their universities to cut ties with Israeli arms companies and support calls for a ceasefire as the war in Gaza rages.
Large crowds have also gathered in Newcastle, where students say that their protest will highlight the university’s investment strategy and its complicity in war crimes committed by the Israeli army in Gaza and the West Bank.
