Australia bans extremist Israeli Knesset member from entering country

CANBERRA, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Australia has decided to ban extremist Israeli Knesset member Simcha Rothman from entering the country to attend a Jewish community conference in the coming days, due to his support for the occupation and his dissemination of a culture of hatred and division.

The Australian Ministry of Home Affairs stated that it has decided to ban the entry of anyone who spreads messages of division and hatred.

“The government will prevent anyone who spreads messages of hatred and division from entering its territory,” Australian Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke clarified in a statement.

“If you come to Australia carrying such messages, you are not welcome here.”

Burke added that Rothman “will not be able to apply for a visa again for three years,” emphasizing his government’s strict position against any attempt to sow discord.

The minister stressed that the measure aims to ensure that everyone in the country feels safe.
