Gunmen blow up crude oil pipeline in Shabwa

SHABWA, Feb. 10 (YPA) – Unidentified gunmen blew up a crude oil pipeline in Shabwa province, which is under the control of Saudi-led coalition factions in eastern Yemen, on Saturday.

Local sources in the province reported that militants blew up a crude oil transport pipeline at Kilo 65 near the city of Ataq, the center of the province, during the past hours.

Engineering and maintenance teams rushed to repair the pipeline, the sources added, noting that the explosion led to a fire in the pipeline and stopped the process of pumping crude oil.

According to the sources, the engineering team was able to put out the fire and repair the pipe.

Shabwa has witnessed incidents similar to the bombing of a crude oil pipeline amid the inability of the authorities loyal to the coalition to limit them, with the continued demands of the people of the province to reduce the prices of oil derivatives to the official price of 3,500 riyals, similar to the city of Marib, instead of 25,000 riyals for a 20-liter gallon.

This comes after the UAE-funded “Shabwa Defense” factions launched an armed attack last week targeting members of the Shabwa tribes demanding a reduction in the prices of oil derivatives near the Al-Uqla oil fields in Arma’a district, leaving a number wounded.
